Surah Al-‘Asr
The ˹Passage of˺ Time • Surah 103 • 3 verses
Introduction
This Meccan chapter emphasizes that, unlike the evildoers mentioned in the next chapter, only those who take advantage of this fleeting life by doing good will be successful in the eternal life to come.

وَٱلْعَصْرِ
By the ˹passage of˺ time!

إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ
Surely humanity is in ˹grave˺ loss,
3
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ
except those who have faith, do good, and urge each other to the truth, and urge each other to perseverance.
